Un résumé qui avait de quoi susciter mon attention. Un univers que je découvre. Et pour une première rencontre je suis totalement sous le charme.
« The Chocolate Works » suit l’histoire d’Henri. Un homme dévasté par les derniers changements de sa vie. En une journée, non seulement il a perdu son emploi mais en plus sa maison. Mais il aura fallut d’un inespéré héritage pour qu’il s’embarque dans une drôle d’aventure dans une petite ville perdue du Nouveau Mexique avec en prime un compagnon de route des plus déroutants…
Que dire à part qu’Henri est un personnage adorable comme tout quelque peu solitaire. Il dégage de lui ce petit quelque chose qui fait que l’on s’attache facilement à lui… Quand à son compagnon de route ? Un sacré personnage ce mec ! Un extravagant chocolatier qui prend un malin plaisir à rendre fou Henri et qui va en plaire à plus d’une…
Ce duo haut en couleurs ne pouvait pas être plus différent. J’irai même jusqu’à dire que c’est le jour et la nuit entre ces deux-là ! Fous rires garantis avec eux ! Et pourtant, ils vont vous surprendre à bien des égards et vont parfaitement vous prouver qu’ils se complètent en tout point.
En bref… S’il est vrai qu’au début de ma lecture j’ai eu un peu de mal à accrocher. Mais au fil des pages, j’ai très vite changer d’état d’esprit et me suis littéralement régalée ! Si vous lisez en VO et que vous chercher une pétillante et délicieuse lecture avec une bonne dose d’humour, de sarcasme, d’émotions vives et de romantisme qui vous redonne le sourire et qui fasse un bien fou à votre morale. Alors « The Chocolate Works » est exactement ce qu’il vous faut. C’est mon premier roman de Geoffrey Knight et cela ne sera pas mon dernier… À découvrir…
